Job Description

Reports to: Principal/ Vice Principal (Head of Elementary School) and Secondary School Coordinator

Qualification, Skills and Aptitude

  • Either B.Sc (Nursing) or PCL (Nursing) degree,
  • A minimum 4-5 years of work experience for PCL Nursing and 2-3 years of work experience for B.Sc Nursing,
  • Ability to conduct health screenings and administer basic health care and first aid for ill, and/or injured children.

Main Purpose of Job

The School Nurse facilitates and implements strategies that promote student and staff health and safety. She serves as the coordinator of all school health programs and provides nursing care. She also provides health education and counseling.

  • Excellent communication and listening skills,
  • Ability to win the trust of children and encourage them to talk about their problems,
  • The ability to stay calm in an emergency,
  • The ability to explore sensitive issues with tact, understanding and patience,
  • Good record-keeping and organizational skills,
  • Highly efficient at handling multiple responsibilities simultaneously,
  • Be flexible and able to adapt as required,
  • Show respect for values, beliefs, religions and customs of co-workers,
  • Able to contribute positively towards creating a good working environment.
