Job Description

Requirements

 

  • Legal knowledge
    • Nepali lawyer with at least 6 to 10 years of experience that includes advanced levels of legal research & writing as well as significant experience advocating before the courts. Knowledge of constitutional law will be an added advantage.
    • In-depth knowledge of the Nepali legal system, its challenges, and the impact of the external environment on its functioning.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of domestic and international human rights and rule of law norms related to criminal justice and public security and an ability to analyse and report on related issues, including institutional responsibility and areas of reform.

 

  • Project/programme implementation experience
    • Demonstrated capacity to support donor-funded project design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and learning.

 

  • Collaborative leadership
    • Proven access to a wide network of relevant actors.
    • Demonstrated capacity to interact constructively and sensitively with actors at all levels and segments of society.
    • Demonstrated capacity to work dynamically as a collaborative team player and leader with an interest in working in a matrix management system.
    • Willingness to provide technical support to GF team members and partners.

 

  • Analysis and writing
    • Experience withpreparing briefs, white-papers; think-pieces and presentations that go with it.
    • Demonstrated capacity to carry out high level analysis and writing.
    • Fluent in written and spoken Nepali and English.  Knowledge of any major national language will be considered a distinct advantage.

Organization Summary

he Governance Facility (GF) is a new initiative of the Embassies of Denmark and Switzerland, and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) in agreement with the Government of Nepal. This arrangement is embedded in a bilateral agreement signed in December 2013 between the Government of Nepal and the Embassy of Denmark, which foresees the development of a joint donor facility to manage coherent, harmonized and coordinated funding support in line with the Aid Effectiveness Agenda (Paris Declaration, Accra Agenda for Action and Busan Partnership).
