Job Description

Required Experience and Competencies

  • An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, media, journalism or other relevant discipline;
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in media relations and communications, including advising a management team on crisis communication;
  • Proven keen interest in media and press relations;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills;
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a lively, accurate and readable manner in a variety of formats, including press releases, newsletters, websites, social media and targeted at a range of audiences;
  • Aptitude to deliver high quality work to time in a pressured environment; to work to a number of competing deadlines and to ‘multi-task’; willing to work in evening or weekend if situation so requires;
  • Demonstrated experience to respond to and prioritise a very diverse range of media;
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including tact and diplomacy; and experience of dealing with persistent media enquirers;
  • Excellent computer literacy and ability to summarise data and present reports on media;
  • Experience with communications on governance or rights-related subjects would be a distinct advantage;
  • Demonstrated capacity to interact constructively and sensitively with actors at all levels and from all segments of society;
  • Demonstrated capacity to work dynamically as a collaborative team player and leader with an interest in working in a matrix management system;
  • Willingness to provide technical support to GF team members and partners;

Organization Summary

he Governance Facility (GF) is a new initiative of the Embassies of Denmark and Switzerland, and the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) in agreement with the Government of Nepal. This arrangement is embedded in a bilateral agreement signed in December 2013 between the Government of Nepal and the Embassy of Denmark, which foresees the development of a joint donor facility to manage coherent, harmonized and coordinated funding support in line with the Aid Effectiveness Agenda (Paris Declaration, Accra Agenda for Action and Busan Partnership).
