DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION / REQUIREMENTS:

Location: Chapur, covering Rautahat and Bara districts

Reports to: MEAL Manager

Department or Program: Aarambha - Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) Project

Position Level: 3

Contract Starting date: as soon as possible

Contract End Date: December 2021

No of opening: 1 (preferably female, preferably from Province 2)
 
Introduction
Aarambha - Leave No Girl Behind (LNGB) is a five-year program funded by the Girls’ Education Challenge (GEC). The project will be implemented in Bara and Rautahat districts, by two local partner organizations, with strong emphasis on literacy, numeracy and social norms transformation. An independent external evaluator will carry out the project evaluation.

Scope of work
MEAL Coordinator will lead MEAL activities in the field, such as design, planning and coordination of such activities, capacity building of staffs, field data collection, cleaning and analysis in coordination with the MEAL Manager, Programme managers and local partners. S/he will be responsible for ensuring efficient information management, improving data quality, and strengthening the knowledge sharing and learning process across the organization, with partners and other stakeholders. The MEAL Coordinator will work in close coordination with each other and under the direct supervision of MEAL Manager. The MEAL Coordinator will adhere to PIN Code of Conduct and key policies including Child Protection Policy and Safeguarding Policy. The job duties of the MEAL Coordinator are:

  • Project Monitoring & Evaluation
  • Documentation, Reporting and Knowledge Sharing
  • Data Collection and Database Maintenance 

Job Specification

Required Qualifications:

Education and Training
Bachelor’s degree (Masters’ degree preferred) in social science or development related fields, with good understanding and interest in MEAL systems

Relevant Experience
Minimum of four years’ experience working in the areas of monitoring and evaluation, data collection, and reporting, and complaint response mechanism, preferably with development projects. Previous working experience with disadvantaged and vulnerable groups is a plus.

Desired Knowledge, Skills and Competencies

  • Strong computer literacy (including but not limited to MS Excel and Word)
  • Strong data management skills
  • Proven data collection, analysis and report writing skills. 
  • Experience with KoBo Toolbox or other ODK software.Experience of statistical and data management software (STATA, SPSS) is desirableGood understanding of gender issues and rights-based approach
  • Outstanding communication skills- written and spoken
  • Fluency in English-written and spoken
  • Fluency in the local language (Bhojpuri/Bajjika) preferred
  • Nepali typing skill is a plus
  • Strong critical thinking and ability to self-initiate
  • Willingness to undertake extensive field works in remote and rural communities in province 2
  • Female candidates belonging to Province 2 will be preferred
