Job Description

Position:Livelihood Officer

Placement: Based at district project office in Rasuwa

Number of Required Personnel: 1

  • Take lead in the implementation of livelihood related activities within the project framework
  • Take lead on preparation and implementation of livelihood improvement plan. Similarly, lead in identification of beneficiary households for livelihood support, provide training/support in capacity building, market linkages
  • Capacity building of social mobilizers, community groups, female groups for the effective implementation of livelihood related activities
  • Linking community groups, farmer groups, female groups to different agricultural service providers and training institutes
  • Design, develop and provide necessary training for target communities to develop skills and capacities for disaster resilient livelihood strategies
  • Provide technical support to the beneficiaries in implementing livelihood activities
  • Documentation of the stories of successes and challenges
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Preferred Qualification and Experience: Master’s Degree with minimum 2-3 years of relevant work experience. Experience in agriculture, livelihood is essential. Good interpersonal communication, facilitation, coordination and presentation skills along with excellent report writing ability both in English and Nepali.

Organization Summary

BATAS Foundation is a non-profit and non-governmental organization established in 2008 with the aim of building a just community of skilled and self-motivated individuals. Its major focus areas include education, skill development and livelihood enhancement. Following the devastating earthquake of 25th April 2015, BATAS extended its priorities to humanitarian support and emergency response realizing an imperative need for it. Currently, the Foundation has been working in Nuwakot, Sindhupalchok and Rasuwa districts for relief, recovery and reconstruction activities.

 

Initiated as a Corporate Social Responsibility of BATAS Organisation, BATAS Foundation is an autonomous NGO. However the Foundation still enjoys many forms of technical and financial support from the company when needed.
