Job Summary
For the project implementation, responsible for implementing the Environmental Requirements of the project including forest clearances, leasing of government lands, and environmental compliances. He/she shall be responsible for coordination with the local authorities and government offices for environmental affairs of the project and other duties as directed by the Project Director/Engineering Manager/Site Coordinator.
Work descriptions and Responsibility
Conduct Environmental Assessment /study as required by the Project such as Supplementary EIA of the project as required;
Implement activities and requirements following the EIA and IEE reports of the project;
Develop and prepare the risk assessments plan, crisis management plan, resettlement plans, and, if necessary, Gender and Social Inclusion Plans and implement them to protect company’s reputations;
Liaise with government organizations and entities for environmental activities (tree felling, stacking, auctioning; issues on social concerns, natural resources, wild life etc.) and environmental compliances;
Coordinate and get approvals for acquisition and/or leasing of forest and government lands required for the project;
Support the project team for implementation of the project;
Maintain all the records related to forest clearances and approvals;
Keep the management updated about the issues in relation to forest and environment;
Maintain and keep good relation with locals, engineers, contractors, consultant, supervisor and management;
Assist the SiteCoordinator with the preparation of progress/annual reportsand other documents;
Write, edit, and produce newsletters, brochures and other publications for the company as required in relation to environment;
During the project execution, collect the public grievances on environmental issues and assist the Site Coordinator to redress them;
Assist the Site Coordinator to liaise and coordinate with local government and stakeholders;
Liaise with the Consultant in implementation of EMP through Ghunsa Environment Management Unit;
Represent the company in the meetings/conference/seminar in local level as required by the Site Coordinator for environmental affairs;
Make compliance with all the environmental requirements of the project as indicated in environmental guidelines including revegetation and other requirements;
Perform any other duties as assigned by the management time to time.
Required minimum qualification and Experience:
Master's degree in Environment Science or Environment Engineering or Environment Management or Forestry or relevant field and having minimum 2 years’ of experience in Hydropower Projects as an Environment Engineer/Officer or similar positions. Preference will be given for candidates having more experience in Environment Assessment (IEE/EIA) and familiar in Environment Management/mitigation of Hydropower Projects.
