Job Description

Coordination, planning and capacity building:

  • Networking, coordination and collaboration with sector stakeholders;

  • Professional/facilitation services for sector strengthening while being responsive to structural changes in the new federal system;

  • Strategic planning, budgeting, implementation, and monitoring, following the RWS programme approach to achieve programme outcomes;

  • Supporting capacity building events for sector stakeholders at Rural Municipalities and/or implementing partners (local NGO partners) on Rural WASH service improvement strategy preparation;

  • Support Rural Municipalities to develop rural water supply services improvement strategy, facilitate RM level workshops.

Project implementation:

  • Ensure the WfW project activities are substantially completed as per the timeline, budget and activities in the project work plan, unless causes of force major.

  • Facilitate SNV’s implementing partners in the project to respect SNV’s policy, especially in procurement but also in domains such as branding, marking and data protection as per donor requirement.

  • Paying special attention to integration of gender, social inclusion in all programme components.

  • Learning and adaption- project improvements and adaptations are identified and translated into activity design to strengthen outcomes and impacts. Lesson learnt on what works what doesn’t are identified and shared.

  • Social Distancing Policy- SNV and SNV partners in the project abide by SNV's Covid-19 policies and with national and local regulations, throughout all activities.

  • Teamwork and communication- contribute to build strong relationships across SNV. Increase communication and updates.

  • Representation- at the local, provincial level and national (as relevant), WfW Nepal keeps high profile and visibility with local stakeholders and takes part in relevant coordination forums.

Monitoring and reporting:

  • Supporting implementation of monitoring and evaluation activities (data collection, annual outcome assessment, Climate Change research with ISF/, survey results sharing with stakeholders etc.);

  • Facilitate implementing part for financial and narrative progress reporting,

  • Support program leader for six monthly and annual reporting to WfW.

  • Paying attention to environment protection and DRR in the project cycle;

  • Coordinating the process and project progress reporting and support the project leader for financial and narrative reporting as required;

  • Coordinating and collaborating with other SNV projects and supporting their implementation where required;

  • Perform other duties as needed.

Job Specification

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering (at least five years field experience) with hands-on project operations or implementation experience in rural WASH sector,

  • Experience of working in a development organization in WASH sector (experience with rural water supply system functionality and sustainability will be desirable);

  • Demonstrated knowledge of gravity fed rural water supply system design, supervision, GESI, Disability Inclusive Development, Behaviour Change Communication and environmental issues;

  • Knowledge and skills in project planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting;

  • Ability to implement qualitative and quantitative monitoring and evaluation processes as per project guidance;

  • Adequate IT skills and proficiency in Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint to be able to complete project monitoring and reporting requirements;

  • Ability to provide professional facilitation services to and support multi-stakeholder forums for WASH sector strengthening;

  • Experience working with local partners, including governmental agencies, development partners, civil society organizations, private sector, and potentially disadvantaged groups;

  • Proven ability to understand and facilitate capacity building activities;

  • Aspiring for good service delivery with strong people centred skills, and interpersonal skills, committed, pro-active and dynamic;

  • Demonstrated creativity, willingness to innovate, and to think systematically and strategically;

  • Willingness and ability to live and work in the assigned duty station for the contract duration, and to travel in remote areas;

  • Commitment to child protection principles and practice.
