Job Description

Reports to: Executive Committee/President of RRN
Duty Station: RRN Katmandu with frequent field visits
Benefits (gross estimates): NRs 250,000 per month plus one-month extra salary for every one year of service on a pro-rata basis to be disbursed at the time of Dashain festival. Non-cash benefits – accidental insurance up to NRs. 1,000,000 (staff only) and medical insurance up to NRs 500,000 (spouse and 2 children covered).

Key Responsibilities

The Executive Director shall be responsible for:

  • Overseeing administrative and managerial functions of the organisation viz. planning, organising, staffing, directing and controlling.
  • Setting the broad policy of the organisation, delegates tasks, provides guidelines, measures performance and takes corrective action.
  • Managing projects including Monitoring and Evaluation.
  • Directing financial management of RRN, including fundraising for RRN projects, programmes and research;
  • Handling organisational communications, including enhancing the profile of RRN with the media, Government ministries and the relevant departments,
  • Providing strategic vision and leadership for RRN as guided by its Strategic Plan;
  • Facilitating institutional collaborations and recruitment of members
  • Facilitating achievement of the goals and objectives of RRN;

Qualifications

In order to be considered for this position, candidates must have credibility and command respect within the practice of implementing rural development projects as well as activities related to empowering so far excluded and poor communities through right based approach and will be expected to have the following qualifications and competencies:

  • PhD or Masters Degree in development studies, social sciences, Management etc. with at least 10 years relevant work experience respectively in executive level of an I/NGO, funding organisation or diplomatic mission
  • Thorough knowledge of national and international trends of non-governmental interventions in development activities and pro-poor and pro-people policies and practices and excellent understanding of various dynamics of development politics
  • Strong analytical skills as a leader, delegator, communicator, resource allocator, problem solver and connector between the Executive Committee/Board and the rest
  • Ability to coordinate activities of different departments a demonstrable track record of strategic and visionary leadership
  • Excellent fluency in English and Nepali Languages
  • Proven experience in fund raising
  • Proven track record and enthusiasm to work under uncommon time pressures
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage events such as seminars, workshops, meetings, campaigns, etc

Terms of Service
This performance- based appointment will be on a yearly fixed term contract basis upon mutual agreement. The emoluments shall be negotiable. The successful candidate is expected to commence duties in July 2016.
