Job Description

Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN) is looking for a competent candidate to fill in the position of Desk Officer.


  • Post: Desk Officer
  • Contract duration: generally for a year but it is extendable based on requirement to the organization and person’s performances. 
  • Base: Kathmandu Office but may require sometimes field visits  
  • Salary: A competitive salary based on experiences and qualification 
  • Job starting:  immediately after the selection  

Major Area of work:

Overall assisting to the Executive Director in managing his/her office smartly. The person is responsible for office management in all sphere of work such as managing appointments, organizational communication, records keeping, minutes taking of meetings and reviewing and studying reports and briefing to the ED as and when needed.  

Coordination: Working closely with HR, Finance and communication managers, Project managers/ Team Leaders and senior staff at the organization as required. 

A. Office Management 

  • Organizing the office of the ED including day to day external and internal communication and appointments. 
  • Managing documents and keeping records and files properly, and produce them efficiently without taking much time when needed.  
  • Follow up of communication and taking information that require to the ED
  • Helping ED on managing the Executive Board Meeting and compiling required documents for it in coordination with HR Manager.
  • Helping ED in attending strategic meeting and equipping him providing basic information in advance.  
  • Preparing communication documents as directed by the ED
  • Working on communication of the organization in coordination with Communication manager 
  • Compiling documents on M &E of ongoing projects and briefing to the ED
  • Managing the guests of RRN and their travels, visas and accommodation etc. as directed by the ED. 
  • Working closely with Admin, finance and programs people and communicating them on time as advised by the ED.  
  • Other work related to ED office requirements as guided by the ED 

B. Strategic work 

  • Studying/ reviewing documents and providing summary gist and comments to the ED as requires, 
  • Information searching, analysis and presentation that requires for the organization,  
  • Taking notes of meeting, conference and preparing minutes of the meeting wherever is required, 
  • Extending support to the team on drafting fund raising proposals, and helping on developing organizational policies and strategies such as communication and IT strategies and polices, organization branding and other profile building work in the organization. 
  • Providing assistance to ED on preparing documents for policy and advocacy work

Qualification and skills:

  • Master degree in social science or other relevant subject  
  • Command in English and Nepali Languages
  • Skillful on communication and maintaining interpersonal skill, 
  • Research and information management skill will be added values. 

Experiences:

  • At least 5 years working experiences on secretarial business and office management in reputed development agencies, 
  • Experiences working in developmental agencies such as NGOs INGOs or civil societies,
