Job Description

Position: Senior Programme Officer
Job location: Banke District based (30% Kathmandu)
Salary: Competitive salary
Contract duration: One-year fixed term contract, renewable
Full Time, 40 hours per week

Major responsibility 

The Senior Programme Officer will be responsible to lead and implement the activities of large-scale multi-year project focus on social and political change processes in Nepal. He or She will be responsible for overseeing project implementation and reporting, and work across project and thematic strands to ensure that project staff and partners have the peacebuilding knowledge and expertise needed to ensure the production of high-quality, high-impact project outputs. This will involve working closely with the Alert team and local partners in a mentoring role, providing constructive feedback and capacity building support aimed at strengthening our integrated peacebuilding approach. He or She will play role in promoting of key learnings for the improvement of the project and for wider leaning of the organisation.

Skills, Qualification, and experience required

  • Master degree in social and political science, media studies, conflict and peacebuilding studies, law, policy and other relevant subjects with at least five years of experience of proven track record of successful design, management and implementation of projects
  • knowledge and experience of programme design and project management including responsibility for budgets Monitoring, staff support and donor relations.
  • Strong understanding of social, political and economy context and situation of Nepal, particularly of the terai region.
  • Sound understanding of Gender and Social Inclusion issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in collaboration with individuals from different backgrounds
  • Fluency in Nepali and English and any other local languages of terai including Maithili, Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Tharu.
