Job Description

Position: Project Manager
Job location: Kathmandu (50% Field)
Salary: Competitive salary
Contract duration: One-year fixed term contract, renewable
Full Time, 40 hours per week

Major responsibility

The Project Manager will be responsible to lead and manage the activities of multi-year project focusing on transitional justice in Nepal. He or She will be responsible for overseeing timely and effective implementation of the project providing leadership and peacebuilding knowledge and expertise needed to ensure the high-quality, high-impact project outputs and outcomes. The project manager is also responsible for timely and accurate financial reporting, monitoring progress and impact of the project in both financial and technical terms. Additionally, the project manager will need to play an important role in ensuring capacity building of local partners and stakeholders as well as ensuring good communication and coordination among the partners, local stakeholders including conflict victim common platform and policymakers and assuring connections between the partners and other actors working in similar work in Nepal in general. He or She will play role in promoting of key learnings for the improvement of the project and for wider leaning of the organisation.

Skills, Qualification, and experience required

  • Master degree in law, conflict and peacebuilding studies, human rights, Social/Political Science and other relevant subjects with at least five years of experience of proven track record of successful design, management and implementation of projects
  • Strong understanding of social, political and economy context and situation of Nepal, particularly issues on transitional justice.
  • Knowledge and experience of programme design and project management including responsibility for budgets Monitoring, staff support and donor relations.
  • Sound understanding of Gender and Social Inclusion issues.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in collaboration with individuals from different backgrounds
  • Fluency in Nepali and English. Fluency in any other local languages of terai including Maithili, Bhojpuri, Awadhi and Tharu is highly desirable.
