Job Description

Contract Duration: 3 years

 

Job Purpose: Project Manager will be responsible for overall activities of the project and he/she needs to ensure that the activities are in line with time and budget plan. Project Manager will be the focal point for the project and will play a key role in project documentation along with disseminating the learning from the project to the wider audience.

 

The Role:

·         Coordinate overall project activities

·         Ensure that all projects activities are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

·         Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

·         Ensure resource availability and allocation

·         Develop a detailed project plan to monitor and track progress

·         Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

·         Report and escalate to management as needed

·         Successfully manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders

·         Ensure the project has a high profile and visibility among the key stakeholder groups

·         Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate verification techniques

·         Perform risk management to minimize project risks

·         Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

·         Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

·         Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of project

·         Coordinate its activities with other similar projects or government programmes in the region

·         Provide backstopping and quality assurance and reporting to and liaising with donor

 

Requirements:

·         Masters degree preferably in the field of project management, social science or any relevant background

·         Proven working experience in project management preferably 5 years or more

·         Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·         Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills

·         Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office

·         Ability to travel as and when required

Organization Summary

Fair Trade Group (FTG) Nepal is a consortium of fair trading organizations in Nepal. It seeks to promote the advancement of the socio-economic status of underprivileged and marginalized producers across the country. It was formally registered as a non-trading not for profit an NGO in 1996. Member organizations of FTG Nepal are involved in supporting producers and raising awareness towards influencing change in the international trade regime. At present, more than 9,000 underprivileged producers and 45,000 producers are directly and indirectly benefiting through FTG Nepal and its members.

 

FTG Nepal collaborates with handicraft, agro-food and NTFP-based organizations in order to influence policy, encourage Fair Trade practices among producer groups, support marketing schemes at the national and international levels, promote self-reliance among marginalized producers and encourage enterprises built upon indigenous skills. The organization also aims to enhance solidarity among fair trading and likeminded organizations, partners and stakeholders at the national, regional and international levels to for the further promotion of the Fair Trade movement.

 

Member organizations provide a range of business support services to their producers including operation funds, small capital investment, design inputs, training and access to local and international markets. A number of social services are also provided, including education for the children of producers, treatment and rehabilitation for those affected by leprosy and orphanages to provide safe havens for street children and orphans
