Job Description

Name of the Position: Project Coordinator

Job Location: Kavre District

Duration: Up to 1 year

Leave and Holidays: As per Nyayik Sansar’s rules (No unspent leave will be payable)

Probation Period: 3 Months

Reports to: Program Coordinator and Program Director

 

Background:

Nyayik Sansar is non- profit and non-governmental organization. Nyayik Sansar works for the sustainable community development and social justice through a participatory approach. Nyayik  Sansar works marginalized groups such as indigenous ethnic minorities and Dalit people in the implementation of development interventions through awareness raising, group formation and training, action research, empowerment and advocacy. Apart from social development, the primary focus of this organization is to advocate for rights and dignity of the most vulnerable population. Additionally to achieve its mission, Nyayik Sansar works with a holistic approach to promote sustainable livelihoods for marginalized population.

 

Purpose of the Position:

The project coordinator is responsible for leading and managing project in Kavre district. The project Coordinator is responsible for overall program and ongoing daily operations of office in core geographical area. The project coordinator is official representative of overall program of the organization in respective working area. The position is designated to assisting and supporting the community well creating income generating source.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Programme Implementation

  • Planning, implementation, monitoring: ensuring and monitoring the planning process is done properly, insuring that learning is integrated into the plans, authority to revise the plans prepared by staffto ensure the community development principles & values are maintained.
  • Coordinating with different project line agencies in area and district level.
  • Work plans: Sitting with each thematic staff during planning, and compiling plans.
  • Receive and review the learning process on levels.
  • Assist in day-to-day functions and support in organizing district and field level activities,
  • Support to implement the project activities, and track the progress and ensure the quality of deliveries,
  • Lead and manage district based program independently.

Staff Support and Management

  • Share best practice, challenges and outcomes among the team
  • Develop strong, trusting and constructive relationships with staff.
  • Coordinate/facilitate the staff's professional development frameworks and process, day to day management of staff conduct and schedule,
  • Monthly calendar and area plan.

Monitoring and Supervision

  • Be involved in the process of community development
  • Assess the benchmark and results of the program according to the log-frame,
  • Assist Kathmandu team to supervise and evaluate the performances of field staffs,
  • Support to undertake evaluation of the programs,
  • Monitor program activities in the assigned districts to ensure smooth implementation on timely basis, consistency, quality and effectiveness;

Documentation and Reporting

  • Collect information, reports and other documents from the area and compile them,
  • Contribute to prepare regular progress reports, develop case study, technical deliverables, presentations, and annual work plan.

Key Competences Required:

The position requires a result oriented, motivated and talented professional who demonstrates integrity, leadership quality, managerial competence, and ability to work with Multidisciplinary teams.  More specifically, the position requires the following competencies.

Required Qualification and Experience

  • Master Degree in Rural Development or related field with at least 2 years work experience in community tourism .
  • Experience in usages of computers and software packages. (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.)

Job Specifications:

  • Good spoken and written English.
  • Knowledge on community development aspects and community development work model.
  • Knowledge on Eco- Tourism and Homestay approach.
  • Able to guide and lead community people, interns and volunteers.
  • Willing to travel area, stay and work in remote area.
