Job Description

Birat Nepal Medical Trust (BNMT) is a non-profit making non-governmental organisation dedicated towards the improved health and wellbeing of Nepalese people.

BNMT is partnering with the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK in a research project entitled “The Research, Evidence and Development Initiative (READ-It)” in Nepal to be launched from June 2020. In order to drive execution of the research project, BNMT is seeking a qualified, pro-active Post Doctoral Researcher to join our Head Office, Kathmandu as per details below. The aim of the project is to complete high quality, policy relevant, informative systematic reviews in infectious diseases relevant to low- and middle-income countries. The roles will be primarily desk-based, to conduct systematic retrieval and data-extraction of web-based literature for evidence synthesis. The role will also entail design, conduct and follow-up of policy discussions with relevant stakeholders, including at ministerial level, with support and mentorship from researchers at the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK. The aim of these meetings will be to identify priority questions for the health sector in Nepal and to disseminate research findings in a digestible form to stakeholders to facilitate translation of knowledge to action. BNMT is also seeking a Research Assistant at Bachelors/Masters level to join this project and develop skills in systematic review and evidence synthesis.

Minimum Qualifications and Experiences: 

  • PhD in relevant health sciences field with at least 2-years professional experience in senior researcher.

Duration:

  • Initially 1-year with the possibility of extension. First 3-months will be probationary period.
