Job Description
On the 25th of April 2015, a powerful earthquake struck Nepal resulting in widespread damage and loss of life and livelihoods. Following this, there was a declaration of emergency and the clusters were activated. On May 12th 2015, a further quake struck causing further damage and casualties to an already devastated population
UNV will perform his/her duties under the supervision of the OCHA Humanitarian Affairs Officer in one of the humanitarian hubs/antenna (Gorkha, Charikot or Chautara). Working as part of a dynamic team, in regular contact with all United Nations Agencies and their partners in Nepal, Humanitarian Affairs Officer/Reporting Officer UNV’s will be under the direct supervisions of the Head of Sub- Office, undertaking following duties and responsibilities:
1. Act as a focal point for gathering and dissemination of reports such as minutes of meetings, surveys, maps, assessments and other relevant reports to and from UN agencies NGO’s, government and other authorities;
2. Provide support to District level cluster co-leads to assure updating of information on the Who-What-Where database, working in close collaboration with the National cluster Information Managers to assure District level data (by VDC) is provided to District cluster co-leads, government cluster leads and utilized in meaningful ways in cluster meetings;
3. Be the responsible for the update of the information on the Contact List database, working in close collaboration with all partners working in the affected areas;Disseminate reports produced by the 3W and contact list databases via several communication means such as Google Groups, OCHA website, email lists, hard copies during meetings;

Masters Degree or Bachelors Degree with combination of education, certification and experience in the IM relevant area is essential.

At least 2 years of progressive experience in the area of Information Management. Extensive work familiarity with GPS systems is an advantage. Ability to work independently in a result oriented multi-tasking environment is an asset.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential and will be assessed; fluency in one or more local languages is highly desirable.
