Job Description

On the 25th of April 2015, a powerful earthquake struck Nepal resulting in widespread damage and loss of life and livelihoods. Following this, there was a declaration of emergency and the clusters were activated. 
 
A cash coordination group (CCG) was established in the days following the initial April earthquake. The CCG is an UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs -led forum of technical professionals dedicated to cash and voucher programming in Nepal. The mandate is to define the strategic direction for cash transfer programming as part of the earthquake response, and ensure technical quality in the design and appropriate implementation of cash based response in close coordination with the core clusters, government and implementing partners.
Under the overall guidance of the UNOCHA Head of Office and direct supervision of the Cash Coordinator (UNOCHA), the Associate Humanitarian Affairs Officer will:
 
- Support to Cash Coordination group. Specific technical support to the working group related to financial service  providers.
- Support to governmental liaison and private sector engagement at Kathmandu level and provide support as required at hub level (Chautara and Gorkha)
- Support engagement with the early recovery cluster
- Provide support and liaison with IM team regarding communication of materials and information to the wider CCG
- Support to other tasks as required by the Cash Coordinator

  1. A university degree preferably in political science, business or public administration, law, international relations, economics, management, or related area of study.
  2. Preferably (2) years of progressively responsible professional experience in the field of humanitarian affairs, disaster management and response, inter-agency coordination, or experience in a related area of expertise.
  3. Demonstrated knowledge of cash programming for emergency and development contexts
  4. Experience working with a UN agency preferred
