The British Council is recruiting for a Finance Manager to provide support on accurate, timely and high quality analysis, while providing insights to key decision-makers and stakeholders, and contributing to the financial planning of the British Council Nepal and its major units to its long range and annual operating budgets

CONTEXT AND ENVIRONMENT

The Nepal Operation
The British Council has been working in Nepal since 1959, starting with a Library at Kantipath and now offering services in 5 cities in Nepal. The main activities are Examinations, Grant-funded (GPF) and FCR project management for development services. The GPF programme comprises teacher education (ETTE+), digital delivery of English learning programmes, school links (Connecting Classrooms), Learning Centre (for examination preparation, personal & professional development, English teaching & IELTS prep workshops) and Arts.

Team Structure
This role is part of the Country Management Team, critical to ensure the effectiveness of our overall operations in Nepal. This position is a part of the wider Business Support Services (BSS) team, reporting directly Country Director, with two direct reports i.e. the Finance Officer and an IT Officer. The team also consists of Facilities Assistant reporting to the IT Officer and HR Officer reporting to the Country Director.
