Job Description
The Capacity Building Manager for Asia is a new position under the Center’s ambitious new strategic plan. In the next five years, the Center envisions considerable growth across the Global Legal Program’s (GLP) regional programs in Africa, Asia, Europe, and Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as its Global Advocacy Program, and significant expansion of its work in building the capacity of, and connections among, lawyers, advocates, judges, government officials, universities, law firms, bar associations, and other stakeholders. Through convening, training, mentoring, technical assistance, strategic alliances, and strategic guidance, the Center seeks to empower and collaborate with a broad range of actors to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights legal and policy frameworks and advocacy strategies that are tailored to the local context and sustainable in the long term. The Capacity Building Manager for Asia will dually report directly to the Regional Director for Asia and the Director of Capacity Building. The position will be based in Kathmandu, Nepal and is open to citizens of Nepal only.
Responsibilities:
The Capacity Building Manager’s primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Assisting the Regional Director for Asia, Director of Capacity Building, and other members of the regional team in designing, facilitating, and implementing effective capacity-building strategies and initiatives;

Helping identify, build, and maintain partnerships with NGOs, and other key stakeholders;

Working in coordination with civil society organizations, judges, national human rights institutions, academics, public health experts, health service providers, and other external stakeholders, to further the capacity-building objectives of the Center;

Researching and monitoring developments and trends in capacity-building initiatives and methodologies; compiling and developing resources and tools to inform program strategy;

Identifying, documenting, and applying best practices in capacity-building initiatives;

Assisting the design and development of training modules, as relevant;

Supporting the Asia Program’s analysis and assessment of capacity building needs and development of capacity-building measurement tools and strategies for specific partners;

Monitoring and reviewing the impact of capacity-building support and recommending improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives;

Assisting with the planning, logistics, and implementation of events;

Contributing to the creation and maintenance of a virtual platform for advocates to share strategies and tactics and learn from one another’s experiences, in addition to facilitating online trainings, developing resources, and curating interactive dialogues;

Representing the Center externally on matters related to reproductive rights through public speaking, and as required, through engagement with the media;

Assisting with the supervision of interns and volunteers in the regional office and coordinating pro bono projects as well as other institutional responsibilities; and

Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Job Specification
Qualifications:

Strong commitment to the Center’s mission, purpose, and values;

Advanced degree (Masters or equivalent) in a relevant field, such as law, international development, or public policy;

Minimum 3-4 years of substantial experience in developing and implementing capacity-building programs, particularly in the Global South;
-
Proficiency with activities, theories, and methods in capacity-building field, and experience in building the capacity of non-governmental partners and high-level stakeholders including government officials, to influence change;

Experience in monitoring and evaluation, including the development of indicators and tools to measure progress and impact;
-
Familiarity with international and regional human rights law and knowledge of human rights systems and mechanisms preferred;

Good judgment and outstanding networking, coordination, analytical and communication skills;
-
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with internal as well as external partners and other organizations, and build and maintain strong partnerships;
-
Strong training and facilitation skills in international, multicultural settings;
-
Excellent presentation, research, writing, analytical and creative thinking skills; and
-
Demonstrated international experience and expertise, including experience living and working at the field level in the Global South.
