Job Description

Condition of Employment Full-time based in Kathmandu Office with frequent field visits
Contract Type and Salary Scale Service Contract(SB 3, B and B, step 1

Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent shall coordinate the implementation of the project “Empowering Adolescent Girls and Women: Promoting equitable education, literacy and lifelong learning”, under the overall authority of the Head of the UNESCO Office in Kathmandu and UNESCO Representative to Nepal, and direct supervision of National Programme Officer (Education). In particular,

  • Assist in the detailed planning of project activities;
  • Ensure day-to-day implementation of project activities; 
  •  Liaise with project stakeholders; 
  • Ensure reporting and evaluation;
  • Organize the project documentation;
  • Contribute to the outreach of the project.

Job Specification

General Requirements:

Qualifications required:
The applicant shall:
  • Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, preferably in education, human rights, political sciences or international development;
  • 3-5 years of experience of working in the area of education, human rights, political sciences and/or international development, preferably with a UN agency, an INGO or a Government of Nepal entity;
  • 2 years of experience of working in project planning and management;
Good knowledge in the following areas:
  • Initiatives of different agencies in the area of adolescent girls education
  • Education system in Nepal;
  • UNESCO’s action in education;
  • Educational planning would be an asset;
  • Project planning, management and evaluation skills;
  • Very good written and oral communication skills in Nepali and English.
