Job Description (Roles and Responsibilities)  

Duration of post: This position is  for 6 months subject to date of joining.

Main purpose of job:

The primary function of the CLO is to support all UK-Based officers and their families at Post, including Partners Across Government (Mainly DFID and Ministry of Defence), to help them prepare for, settle into and face challenges of life while posted in Kathmandu.

CLO will  work closely with Post Management for the well-being of all staff at Post, with primary function as advocate for and provision of support to UK-based staff and families on family and community issues, principally in the areas of information gathering, welfare and communication. 

Roles and responsibilities: 

  • To support expat/UK families in all the practicalities in terms of  moving to and living in Nepal by gathering and providing information on accommodation, local medical service providers, international schools, employment opportunities, shopping, entertainment options.
  • To liaise with the Estates team to ensure float items and internet and TVs are available prior to staff arrival.
  • To welcome new staff and family and liaise for their familiarization visit or Post arrival.
  • To liaise with the spouses/partners through social events and coordinate a social newsletter, linking up with other expat missions and organisations.
  • To coordinate annual returns to the Foreign Office in London on the Cost of Living (COLA), medical facilities, Post Report, DSFA returns, education options among other areas.
  • Adhoc duties as assigned by Line Manager.

Essential qualifications, skills and experience  

Essential on arrival:  Proven record of Working with others and good interpersonal skills; excellent team work skill

Computer literate – Word, Outlook (email) and Excel

Desirable:  Experience  of living abroad

SALARY PACKAGE 

For British Embassy candidates, the Local Staff BE Terms & Conditions will apply. Basic salary will be NPR 37,823 per month.
