PEOPLES Hydropower Company (P.) Ltd. is a private limited company established in 2007 under the Company Act of Nepal, 1993by multidisciplinary experts, consultants and hydropower developers. The company works towards the poverty eradication in Nepal through various developmental activities.
Energy is a basic means meeting both the basic requirements of life support system and executing all development efforts. The country has a need of economically feasible energy alternatives based on the renewable energy sources. Alternative energy source is increasingly being realized in the rural sector not only to reduce ever-increasing dependency on traditional energy sources but also to reduce drudgery and sustain income – generating activities. In this context, the major activities of the company include promotion of alternative energy through establishment of small hydropower, micro-hydropower, solar energy, and development planning of rural communities and societies in a participatory way. Since its establishment, it has been devoted in active participation of development activities to reduction of the reliance on unsustainable energy resources, which has resulted in the emergence of environmental problems, both at the local and global level.
