Job Description

Reports to: Director in Nepal and Technical Director in the US.

Location: Sindhupalchok/Tanahu/Kathmandu

Project: NI/DSCBD's water survey project

Job allocation: As per the need of project, candidate must be ready to work in NI/DSCBD's program areas in Nepal.

Job Purpose:  The position holderwill be responsible for management of NI/DSCBD's water survey projects in districts; coordinate with district/regional/central level line agencies

Key areas of Accountability:

  1. Represent NI/DSCBD in local communities, to local government.
  2. Coordinate with district/regional/central level line agencies.
  3. Write and modify technical surveying questions.
  4. Write and modify community/social questions (Survey formats).
  5. Research existing government and NGO/INGO data available on water sources and infrastructure.
  6. Hire staff to complete the field surveys.
  7. Willing to travel with survey staffs.
  8. Coordinate staff travel and equipment needed.
  9. Manager must learn and use GPS, laptop, simple water flow measurements, and other low-level technical data collection as well as teach team to do the same.
  10. Provide monthly reports to Technical Director and Director.
  11. Provide monthly financial reporting including original receipts to NI/ DSCBD office in Nepal.
  12. Other task assigned by Technical Director and Director.

Key requirements

  1. Minimum undergraduate degree from a recognized university in either a technical field or communications/social work/project management] OR demonstrate prior education or significant experience in a technical or communications field.
  2. At least 2 years working experience in community mobilization and management related projects.
  3. Be organized, responsible and self-starting.
  4. Good people management skills and community management skills.
  5. Good report writing skills.
  6. Ability to coordinate with government line agencies in local, district and national level.
  7. Speak/write good English and communicate promptly to Director of Technical Projects in the US.  Includes requirement to clearly and thoroughly document the findings of each travel team in a timely fashion.
  8. Willing to stay in field area.
  9. Having good presentation and communication skills.
  10. Self-motivated, mature and committed in fulfilling project objectives.
  11. Committed to NI/DSCBD's value and ethos.

 

Duration: One year with possibility of extension.
