Job Description

Position : Project Coordinator (Nepalese Nationals Only)
Reports to : Project Manager, CCS Italy
Coordinates with :

1. CCS Admin & Finance Team Leader
2. WVAF Executive Director
3. WVAF Gender and Transitional Justice Officer

Supervises : Day to day implementation of the project
Organization :  Centro Cooperazione Sviluppo CCS Italy
Duty Station : CCS Italy Country Office, Kathmandu
Duration of the Contract : 1 st May 2017 – 28th February 2018 (10 months)
Salary: Depending on the candidate's experience in the framework of CCS Italy's salary grid

 

Context of the Project
This project, particularly targeting 'Conflict Affected Women & Girls' aims the following:

  • Enhance the capacity of Groups/Networks, operational within the framework of the project, to effectively implement the provisions of NAP on UNSCRs 1325 and 1820 in line with the Guidelines for localization of UNSCRs 1325 and 1820. It focuses on seven districts of Nepal where the number of conflict affected women and girls are significantly high
  • Establish district level Gender and Transitional Justice Networks (GTJNs) to mainstream victim-centric and gender sensitive approaches to the Transitional Justice (TJ) process in Nepal to bring the interest and issues of women into the TJ Commissions
  • Organize consultations to ensure women voices are represented in the Commission of Inquiry on Disappeared Persons (CIEDP), and the Truth and Reconciliation Commission
  • Enhance women's leadership and participation in the key decision-making structures in the project districts

Additionally the project strengthens public awareness on NAP and women’s participation in peace, security and governance processes.
 

Level of Responsibility/Accountability
Under the direct supervision of the Project Manager CCS Italy and in close coordination with WVAF Executive Director and WVAF Gender and Transitional Justice Officer, the Project Coordinator is responsible for overall planning and implementation of the activities at National Level (CCS Italy) while a strong support in coordination and monitoring of district level activities (WVAF) is also required.

Summary of Key Functions

  • Day-to-day management and delivery of outputs, results and activities which are under CCS direct or shared responsibility.
  • Coordination and monitoring of all activities under WVAF direct responsibility
  • Develop and maintain effective relationship with all key stakeholders
  • n close coordination with CCS Admin & Finance team leader he/she is to support the Project
  • Manager with financial planning as well as with administrative, procurement and logistical followup
  • Make field visits to the project districts, as required 

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Human Rights, Conflict, Peace and Development Studies, Social Sciences or other relevant disciplines (essential)
  • Appropriate knowledge and understanding of victim-centric transitional justice processes (essential)
  • Minimum two years of professional experience related to project management with
  • substantial experience in rural areas of Nepal (essential)
  • Demonstrated experience in I/NGO sector in the areas of peace building, human rights, rule of law, good governance, etc. (preferable)
  • Strong organizational, project management and communication skills (essential)
  • Excellent English speaking and writing skills (essential)
  •  Willingness to travel to the project districts, when/as needed (essential)
  • Demonstrated ability to work within tight deadlines (essential)
  • Sound knowledge on development of different training methodologies, curriculum and training manual would be an asset (preferable)
  • Sound knowledge of international standards on, human rights, child rights, women’s rights and related national and international instruments (essential)
  • A proven ability to liaise with a myriad of stakeholders and partners, including government, civil society, and grassroots organizations (essential)
  • Good knowledge of human rights-based advocacy approach and result-based management. (preferable)
  • Progressive experience in advocacy and training programme planning, management, monitoring and reporting (preferable)
  • Computer literacy, particularly in Microsoft Office Programmes (essential)
