Position: Homestead Food Production (HFP) Marketing Specialist-1
Program: Suaahara
Location:Suaahara Office-Kathmandu
Term: Full-Time

Reports to: Agricultural Marketing Manager

Collaborates with:
Internal: Agriculture, Governance, Health and Nutrition team, BCC team, M &E team
External: USAID, Nepali government counterparts, program partners

Primary functions:
The HFP Marketing specialist will be responsible for providing technical assistance to marketing officers and concerned district team for sustainability of Village Model Farmers through HFP entrepreneurship development and institutionalization of beneficiary groups in coordination and consultation with the Agriculture Team-Suaahara. S/he will also be responsible for developing strategies/implementation guide and planning activities for promotion of production to income pathway for nutritional outcome.

Key Responsibilities

• Work with Managers (Food Security, Marketing, PPP) to develop HFP marketing programs and initiatives that empower women producers
• Coordinate with KISAN, PAHAL and other projects to leverage partnership for nutrition value chain
• Ensure quality implementation of activities related to group strengthening, VMF networking, sustainability of HFP and VMFs
• Supervise HFP marketing officers, implement HFP marketing activities achieving district targets
• Coordinate with internal team including agriculture to ensure achievement of outcome/output indicators as per District Implementation Plan (DIP); align with budgetfor cohesive implementation of diversification of HFP and marketing of agricultural products
• Lead and facilitate HFP marketing training at district level-group saving and credit, financial literacy, VMF networking, LRP development etc
• Coordinate with district and technical team of agriculture, marketing to prepare the reports reflecting achievements, lesson learnt, issues and challenges of HFP component for month, quarter, semi-annual and annual period
• Ensure smooth coordination and collaboration with the Suaahara partners
• Provide necessary support to Suaahara KTM team/organization for day to day management as per need

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE AND QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Master’s Degree in agriculture or livestock (with agro economics elective) from a recognized university or in relevant subject-management/business development/economics
• At least five years working experiences in agriculture /livestock based marketing/enterprise and agriculture value chain for livelihood-related program
• Experience in working with GoN programs, Ministry-agriculture, livestock, FNCCI, trade commerce
• Proficiency in written and spoken English
• Willing to travel to rural settings frequently
