Job Description

Possible is seeking an entrepreneurial Finance Manager to manage the organization’s financial operations in Achham, Nepal.

We are looking for an entrepreneurial leader who will manage and improve upon our current internal financial systems in Nepal. Strong preference will be given to those who can prove they can operate in fast-growth environments with limited resources.

The ideal candidate will be extremely skilled in Quickbooks and Excel, have experience managing bookkeeping for a mid to large scale organization, be able to lead our annual audit process, and operate independently as the sole go-to for all financial matters in Achham.

Areas of Responsibility:

The Finance Manager will report to the Finance Director.  At this time, there are no direct reports for this position. The areas of responsibility for the position include:

  1. Maintain accurate, updated, and rigorous accounts across the organization.
    1. Pay bills on time
    2. Protect against corruption and irregularities in accounting
    3. Optimize electronic reporting, bill paying, and record keeping
    4. Maintain Quickbooks accounting system updated
       
  2. Communicate regularly and respond in a timely manner to all financial and accounting requests from Possible Nepal and Possible senior leadership.
    1. Provide Monthly financial reports to the Finance Director on or before the 5th of the next month
    2. Provide quarterly financial report to the Finance Director within 10 days of end of the quarter.
    3. Prepare financial report timely and accurately to submit to the government agencies.
    4. Inform the Finance Director of the need for funding to be released from Possible.
    5. Prepare other documents, such as required to the organization for financial purposes.
       
  3. Coordinate internal and annual financial audit of the organization.
    1. Prepare all the required documents for auditing professionally.
    2. Attend quarterly financial review meetings and update the financial situation of the organization.
    3. Provide all the required information to external auditor for the purpose of auditing.
    4. Maximize transparency, compliance, and anti-corruption practices
    5. Ensure all government funding is spent in accordance with government requirements
       
  4. Other
    1. Maximize use of asana for internal communication within the organization
    2. Have active and regular 1:1 meeting with the Finance Director as per the format provided.

Job Specification

Must-haves:

  1. Technical skill:
    • We need you to be a technical wizard as a baseline requirement – able to produce great work quickly by knowing the programs you use inside and out and being able to use shortcuts to get versions of work done quickly. Key platforms where we need experience are Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel.
       
  2. Extreme attention to detail:
    • We need you to be great at details.  The bookkeeping of our organization requires numerous entries where numbers must be correct to ensure a good financial audit.  The attention while entering numbers, as well as attention to ensuring the reports you pull are accurate is crucial.
  3. Trustworthiness and discretion
    • We expect complete honesty and discretion from the person in this position.  You will have access to all NGO financial information and we must know that you will not misuse the information for your own purposes or the purposes of others. 
  4. Willingness to live in rural Nepal:
    • You will be in Achham, Nepal at least 95% of the time.
  5. Advanced degree in accounting or related field
    • Masters degree in accounting and/or finance highly preferred
    • At least three years of related work experience
