Job Description
The Faculty of English has to instruct students in grammar and writing skills and work with students in analyzing texts and reading of English literature. As a Faculty of English you will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who consistently demonstrates the highest standards of delivery and is fully committed to raising attainments across all key stages and acutely aware of the strategies required to achieve the highest standards within their subject area.
Under the direct supervision of the Deputy Programme Director and with guidance from the Dean, the responsibilities of English Faculty will be:
Helping students improve their listening, speaking, reading and writing skills via individual and group sessions.
Managing quality of teaching and learning and using effective target setting systems for all students within English.
Explain new ideas and unfamiliar concepts with authority in a clear and concise way so that students can understand.
Create tests and reinforce classroom rules and create lesson plans, teach those plans to the entire class and track student progress.
Teach critical thinking skills and advancing students verbal and written communication abilities.
Assist in development of appropriate syllabuses, resources, schemes of work, marking policies and teaching strategies of the college department.
Leading Faculty and Department meetings ensuring a focus on improving student's outcome.
Need to instruct students in basic verbal and written comprehension skills while building students analytical and formulation knowledge.
Deal with student issues; offer extra assistance and spot learning disabilities of students.
Maintain grade books and create lesson plans and modify them accordingly throughout the year.
Teach students about the structure and content of the English language, including proper grammar, spelling and sentence structure.
Manage student behaviour in the classroom by invoking disciplinary procedures and evaluate student's performance.
Create projects to enhance lecture and read and stay abreast of current topics needed for education.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s Degree in English Literature / Management or related fields.
Experience:
Preferably five years of professional experience working in a related field that handles similar work or knowledgeable candidate's ready to start challenging careers in an innovative environment may apply.
Skills:
A highly effective communicator.
Excellent spoken and written English language skills.
Abilities in both planning and scheduling.
Ability and willingness to discern and meet the needs of students.
Ability to establish interpersonal rapport and relate to individuals from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
