Reporting structure
· The role reports to the Communications Director for project and work instruction, allocation, and priorities.
· The Country Director will provide day-to-day human resource support (such as approval on annual leave, general questions about the organization, etc.).
· The Communications Coordinator has no direct reports.
Role requirements and skills
· Strong desire to support rural women in Nepal to become community business leaders known for outstanding customer service.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills: the ability to confidently convey concepts, receive feedback, and tailor messages for specific audiences.
· Fluent or near fluent writing ability in English, including a high attention to detail.
· The ability to translate from English to Nepali or vice versa in speaking and in writing.
· An understanding of the media, social media, and basic marketing principles.
· Strong Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Facebook, and online applications such as Box and Dropbox.
· Willingness to learn, e.g. new computer software such as Adobe InDesign, and contribute ideas to improve processes.
· Ability to travel to the field on occasion.
· Team player, commitment to quality work, honest, and enthusiastic.
· Strong time management skills and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
· Comfortable working and receiving instruction via email / Skype from people outside Nepal (e.g. USA, Canada, Europe).

Key responsibilities
· Support entrepreneurs in marketing and advertising in Nepal overseeing the development and distribution of approved marketing materials (visitor cards, signage).
· Ensure the Empower Generation brand is protected and grows in Nepal.
· Collect feedback from customers and our network to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing activities and other programs as necessary.
· Liaise with Empower Generation’s Program Coordinators and entrepreneurs to develop compelling and accurate content for social media outlets, news stories, and blog posts.
· Write social media and blog posts in English, highlighting our work and the work entrepreneurs of our entrepreneurs.
· Coordinate story research and photo management with the Empower Generation U.S. office.
· Liaise with media in Nepal to raise the profile of our team and what we do.
· Build relationships with suppliers including printers and media agencies to manage the production of materials to the highest standard for a good price.
· Assist in drafting reports in English for donor organizations.
· Undertake other responsibilities as required and agreed with the Communications Director.
