Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) Nepal is a Japanese NGO implementing a project “Strengthening Resilience of Earthquake Affected Schools” in Nuwakot and Rasuwa District from April 2017 to March 2020. The Project consists of construction of quake-resilient school buildings, production of DRR education materials, and setting up books corners for pshyo-social care of students, developing school disaster management plan, evacuation drill and community hazard map making and raising awareness among parents on DRR.
To this intent, the organization is seeking an efficient, motivated and experienced Nepalese candidate to fill the position of Sub-Engineer (short term period) and Admin and Finance Assistant.
Position Title: Sub Engineer (based in Nuwakot)
Contract period: September to November (For 3 months)
Salary Range: Rs. 40,000- Rs.50, 000
Report to: Field Engineer
Main responsibilities:
The Sub-engineer will be responsible for the supervision and monitoring the ongoing school construction in Nuwakot. Ensure strict compliance with National Building Code and earthquake resistant techniques. Supervise and verify construction work undertaken by contractor and partner NGO agency to ensure with quality standards and approved design. Participate in relevant meetings with schools, Construction Company and authorities. Prepare monthly report and report it to the line management level.
Preferred qualification and skills:
Diploma in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 1-2 years of working experience in Building Construction. (preferred School building construction: RCC and Steel Truss Building).
Knowledge on National reconstruction process, disaster risk management or emergency response and previous experience on Humanitarian will be an advantage.
Strong understanding of the available drawing, designs and sound knowledge of AUTOCAD (2D).
