Job Description

Major Responsibility:

The Project Officer will be responsible for implementation of freshwater ecosystem project focusing on gharial in Chitwan National Park and its Buffer Zone and uplifting socioeconomic wellbeing of indigenous and marginalised local communities. S/he will lead on planning for research, conservation education and awareness activities and liaise with relevant partners. S/he will also be responsible for strengthening community based anti-poaching activities, monitoring, evaluation, reporting and liaising with donor agencies for various HN projects. S/he will also be responsible for planning and developing proposals on biodiversity and nature conservation issues. The position will require frequent travelling to HN project sites.

Qualifications:

A Master's Degree in Zoology, Forestry, Environment Science or related subjects with a sound knowledge on biodiversity/environmental conservation. Strong interpersonal, communication and computer skills, ability to work in multicultural, multidisciplinary environment and meeting deadlines are essential. S/he should have prior working experience of at least two years in biodiversity/environment conservation field.
