Job Description
 
Medical Teams International is a USA based International NGO working in the health sector in multiple countries including Nepal. This PHC/ORC Reconstruction Project involves rebuilding 30 small clinics in six VDCs of Dhading District. MTI is looking for a highly competent, committed and energetic Nepali Construction Manager to support this project.    
 
Job Summary: 
Responsible for guiding Medical Team International’s infra-development works in Dhading district, Nepal. Representing in the district level PHCORC and DHO for essential coordination and cooperation including VDC and PHC. Working closely with implementing partner in Dhading. Providing technical and on time inputs to the concern stakeholders. Providing critical contribution in design and effective implementation of the project. 
 
Job Title: Construction Manager
Reports to: Country Director
Supervises: Staff engineers & skilled laborers
Contract: 6 month fixed term contract effect from January 2016; 5 day work week
Location: Based in Dhading District, Nepal; 70% field travel to southern Dhading VDC’s required
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
 
Leading reconstruction of 30 small village clinics. 
 
· Responsible for overseeing construction in six VDCs of Southern Dhading District 
· Ensuring sufficient planning, design, compliance with local partner and authorities
· Ensuring completion of repair & retrofit of 21 facilities within 4 months
· Ensuring completion of new construction of 9 facilities within 4 months 
· Producing periodic reports for MTI and local partner
· Monitoring of the project in coordination with Shanti Nepal and respective PHC/DHO
· Represent Medical Teams International and Shanti Nepal to DHO and other related agencies and stake holders. 
· Preparing research, reports, budgets, etc. as required to complete project
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
· Nepali National
· Fluency in English & Nepali
· >3 years with Construction Management experience with excellent results, being on time and under budget
· Analytical and able to prioritize work
· Familiarity with Nepal Building Code
· Commitment to the mission and vision of Medical Teams International
· Willingness to frequently travel & stay overnight in remote villages
 
Preferred:
· Experience working on donor funded programs
· Experience working in rural communities of Nepal
· Understanding of the GoN’s planning and infrastructure development processes
· Experience in supporting and monitoring field-based projects
· Familiarity with project planning and construction tools and programs 
· Proficient with use of computers and software such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint
· Current knowledge of reconstruction development, related challenges, and ability to navigate government departments for approval
· Organizational skills and a self-starter, able to implement projects without strong direction, setting and achieving deadlines
