 Executive Director


The Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) is a leading environmental organization working primarily on raising public awareness on environment conservation and sustainable development. Since its establishment in 1986, it has has been working on advocacy through print, television, radio and online journalism to bring environmental and developmental information to the public. It is one of the key organizations in Nepal engaged in raising awareness on environmental issues and has played vital role on environment friendly policy formulation processes.

Position Summary:
 Provide direction and leadership to achieve organization's missions and objectives.
 Implement the strategic goals and objectives,
 Networking and coordination to promote the values of NEFEJ among various stakeholders.
 Coordinate with the Executive Board to fulfill its governance function.
 Implement decisions of executive committee and regular reporting to the committee.
 Advocate and lobby for sustainable developments and environmental issues.
 Promote a culture of collaboration and cooperation that serves the needs of members.
 Lead fund raising activities and coordinate with donors.

Major Functions/Accountabilities


Administrative and Program Management: Oversight of the efficient management of the fiscal, administrative and program operations. Work closely with President and General Secretary to develop, design and delivery of services and evaluation of programs and activities. Work in close coordination with the Executive Board on strategic decisions based on analysis, evaluation, and feedback from members, directors, coordinators and management level staffs. 

Financial and Facilities Oversight: Work on fiscal and administrative activities to recommend yearly budget for Board approval. Manage organizational resources within budget guidelines according to current rules and regulations of NEFEJ. Review financial statements and reports per the fiscal guidelines, maintain internal control procedures and ensure organizational accountability.

Human Resource Oversight: Implement the personnel policies of NEFEJ and conforming to rules and regulations. Participate in hiring processes as appropriate and make recommendations on new hires in different department of NEFEJ.

Collaboration and Public Relations: Represent NEFEJ circle, its mission and programs positively to stakeholders and concern collaborative partners. Maintain and foster collaborations and institutional partnerships with other CBO's, NGO's and government agencies.

Development: Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including identifying sources, establishing relationships, submitting proposals, grant-writing, administration and documentation of funds with appropriate staff. Support and partner with Board and other staff in implementing the fundraising strategies.


Board of NEFEJ: Serve as an ex-officio member, provide fiscal and program reports as required, and serve as liaison between Board and staff.
Other duties as requested by the Board of NEFEJ.

Qualifications:
Master's Degree in mass communication, environment, sociology or any other related discipline and minimum of five years of proven experience in similar field. Applicants should have strong written and verbal communication abilities in English and Nepali.

Job Type: Service Contract
Service Period: One Year for initially and can be extended.
Salary: Negotiable
