Job Description

Social Impact is a global development management consulting firm. We provide monitoring, evaluation, strategic planning, and capacity building services to advance development effectiveness. We work across all development sectors including democracy and governance, health and education, the environment, and economic growth. Since 1997 we have worked in over 100 countries for clients such as US government agencies, bilateral donors, multilateral development banks, foundations, and nonprofits.

Project Objective:

Social Impact is conducting an evaluation of Humanity United’s Building Better Futures (BBF) Program in Nepal, implemented by World Education. Since 2011, Humanity United has supported programs to address forced, bonded and child labor in Nepal’s brick industry. These programs address two areas: In brick kilns – through a market-oriented model that incentivizes behavior change among brick kiln owners and producers; and in communities where kiln workers originate – to increase worker resilience against labor recruiters who offer predatory wage advances. SI is conducting an evaluation of the latter intervention in brick worker communities, known as BBF Program.

The BBF Program takes a systems-based approach. BBF program includes education and livelihoods activities in brick workers’ origin communities to help them improve their ability to earn a living at home and save their income, increase their resilience against recruiters offering predatory loans, and help their children enroll and stay in schoolImplemented in two districts surrounding the Kathmandu Valley and the Kavreconsidered.**
