Job Description

The Oda Foundation PHC Doctor and Community Healthcare Director will be responsible for leading our medical team in curative and preventative healthcare practices. He or she will work closely with our medical team to provide the highest possible quality of care to patients on a daily basis. This individual will also have the responsibility of identifying how healthcare can be practiced outside of the clinic. This includes through education initiatives in the public schools preventative measures throughout the villages we serve, and advising on our community health educator’s program. Another key component to this position will be holding regular medical staff meetings that, in addition to patient rounds, include trainings and critical knowledge sharing for our rising staff members. 

This position will require managerial and relationship building skills. This individual will be required to engage in meetings with community members, government officials, and other key stakeholders of the region. We are looking for someone who understands that quality healthcare requires proper skills in the clinic, as well as active engagement with the community. 

Job Specification

Key responsibilities include: 

  • Working in the Oda Foundation Primary Healthcare Center which treats roughly 1,000 patients every month 
  • Overseeing and coordinating preventative healthcare programs – including, but not limited to, educational classes, women’s meetings, community meetings, and the Community Health Educators program 
  • Professional development of younger medical staff members 
  • Participating in regular meetings with Oda Foundation staff regarding the status of our medical care and its reach into the community 

Successful candidates will have: 

  • A desire to work in a rural setting 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 
  • A positive attitude with a proven track record for being a team player 
  • A strong work ethic and a desire to engage in rural community development 
  • A strong understanding of the importance in building local talent and local capacity 
  • Additional medical certificates (i.e.: abortion approval, USG machine approval, etc.)
