Location: Mid-Western Nepal, primarily Surkhet and Banke, occasional travel to other regions as well as the Kathmandu Office.
Duration: 24 months initial fixed term contract with possibility of extension based on performance
Overall Purpose:
Coordinate the delivery of Renewable World’s renewable-energy driven livelihoods programmes in Mid-Western Nepal. This position will be responsible for supporting the regional team; directly managing Agricultural Officers and coordinating additional team members from Renewable World and our local partners, including the Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer, Regional Technical Officer and Social Mobilisers. This position requires at least five years’ experience in livelihoods promotion and development, organic agriculture, market development, and the demonstrated ability to lead Renewable World’s overall livelihoods development strategy at regional level. The post-holder should also be familiar with
renewable energy technologies, including Biogas, Improved Cookstoves and solar powered technologies. As part of this role, the Livelihoods Project Coordinator will collaborate with stakeholders at local and regional level to streamline these technologies in a sustainable and commercial way, to facilitate livelihoods and health improvements.
The post-holder will be responsible for managing multiple pilot projects, centred on the development of new markets for clean cooking solutions, organic compost and solar-energy enhanced livelihoods. This will include undertaking market studies, developing livelihoods packages and building the capacity of rural communities to grow their incomes through new opportunities. The post-holder must possess sensitivity to caste, gender and economic class and will, at all times, adhere to Renewable World’s Safeguarding Policy and enhanced Code of Conduct. Strong communications skills and an ability to work with rural communities on the ground are essential. While reporting and written work will be required, this is a predominantly district-based job, requiring frequent field travel across the region.
