About Disabled Human Right Forum (DHRF)

Forum for Human Rights and the Disabled (FHRD) was established in 2000 as Disabled People Organization (DPO) and NGO. It was established and led by Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in order to promote community based rehabilitation, mainstreaming disability in development and humanitarian emergencies; promote the rights of PWDs in accordance with the Nepal government’s priorities and UN Convention on Rights of Persons with Disability (UNCRPD). The driving force to establish this organization was to ensure social economic, cultural and other rights of PWDs in order to establish an open society that treats PWDs like others without disability. Over the years, FHRD has worked and developed its expertise in social protection, advocacy on rights of PWDs, involvement of vulnerable groups in development and disaster management efforts, promotion of local governance and accountability for rights, livelihood of marginalized and vulnerable populations including PWDs and social inclusion.
