Job Description

Position: Technical Advisor -Adolescent Health and Development (AHD)
Duty Station: Kathmandu Duration: Till June 2018

Responsibilities:
• Provide technical assistance at a policy and decentralized level on behavior change and communication (BCC) strategies, regarding adolescent health and development, as well as on integrated quality improvement of adolescent health services with a focus on the multispectral response including the respective ministries (Ministry of Education, MoWCSW etc.)
• Support work planning, implementation. Monitoring and reporting on BCC regarding AHD. with a special focus on SRH and multi- spectral response
• Provide technical assistance to the central and regional teams to build capacity in BCC activities as well as to other key stakeholders including different materials channels (digital, radio, print. etc.)
• Coordinate with END/ MoH/ DOHS Departments, NHEICC. and other relevant Ministry Division Centers and technical working groups
• Record lessons learnt. document and assist senior advisor in preparing reports and presentations for dissemination
• Monitor the activities of the teams in the regions
• Support surveys assessments and studies as required
• Engage in GIZ supported projects for AHD related programmes in other countries
• Assist Senior Advisor in knowledge management activities including articles, policy and technical briefs. etc.

Required qualification and experience:
• Master's degree in public health, health education or communication or related field and a minimum of 7 years of professional experience
• Demonstrated experience and ability to develop an effective working relationship with stakeholders on a policy and decentralized level and with external development partners
• Excellent understanding of Nepal's health sector
• Demonstrated experience in the implementation of community based health programmes, preferably on adolescent health and development, focusing on increased access and use of health services, promoting evidence based practice for health seeking behavior and BCC
• Extensive field experience in targeted working distinct and robust understanding of the realities and complexities of the hard to reach and vulnerable groups. and experience in integrating cross cutting such as GESI strategies
• Demonstrated ability to be a good team player and able to work in a multicultural and multi sectoral environment
• Excellent English language skills (verbal and written)
• Excellent Computer skills in data analysis
