Job Description

CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 37 years. It currently works in 36 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Marginalized Women and Adolescent Girls are our two primary impact groups. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy.

CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for the following full time positions for the USAID funded project Hariyo Ban Nepal ko Dhan Program. The Hariyo Ban Nepalko Dhan Program (Hariyo Ban Program) aims to reduce the adverse impacts of climate change and threats to biodiversity in Nepal. This program is being implemented in two important landscapes of Nepal, Terai Arc Landscape and Chitwan Annapurna Landscape of Nepal.

1. Program Officer - GESI (based in Gorkha)

Key responsibilities:

The Program Officer - GESI incumbent will support to implement the Hariyo Ban Programs’ ERR program in Gorkha and Dhading. S/he will act as focal points for knowledge and support on embedding protection, gender sensitive and transformative programming within the project. S/he will champion quality design, implementation and evaluation of programs to ensure the unique needs of women, men, girls, boys, minority groups and persons with disabilities are identified and responded by our programs (sensitive approach), and that inequality is challenged wherever possible (transformative approach). The incumbent will closely work with Team Leader, Specialists, Field Staff and GESI Coordinator of CARE and HBP consortiums to ensure holistic analysis is done incorporating gender aspects and ensuring maximum success of programs by using all available potentials and resources.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Bachelors degree in development studies/gender studies and experience with organizational assessment and development. At least three years of work experience in gender sensitive programming, gender in emergencies, working with NRM groups or equivalent experience
