Job Description

CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 37 years. It currently works in 36 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Marginalized Women and Adolescent Girls are our two primary impact groups. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy.

CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for the following full time positions for the new phase of SAMMAN for a period of 3 years. The Strengthening Approaches for Maximizing Maternal, Neonatal, and Reproductive Health (SAMMAN) Project aims to improve maternal and neonatal health outcomes by strengthening and increasing effectiveness of frontline Health Workers (HWs) to positively impact maternal, neonatal, and child health (MNCH) goals. The three-year Project will start from October 2015 and will end in September 2018 to build on existing activities undertaken during the first Phase and extend the same to new project districts to help address disparities that exist in access to quality Maternal & Neo-natal Child Health services. The project will be implemented only for two years in the old districts where the first phase of the project was implemented (Doti, Dadeldhura and Kailali), whereas the project will be implemented for 3 years in Kavre and Sindhuli.

1. Maternal and Neonatal Health Specialist (Based in Dadeldhura)

Key responsibilities:

The MNH Specialist is responsible to provide technical support to the project team and partners in the process of planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and advocacy of project impacts. S/he will represent SAMMAN Project in the districts, regional health directorate and play a key role in providing technical support to counterpart D/PHO and partner in close coordination with Project Manager and the team.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience:

Master’s degree in Public Health with 5 years of work experience in maternal and child health with INGOs. Sound knowledge and experience in maternal and newborn/child health and familiar with various MNCH services package of GON is required.
