Job Description

Consultant

The International Organization for Migration is seeking qualified candidates for the following consultancy based in Kathmandu with on-site district visits.

Tasks to be performed:

1.Ascertain the relevance, effectiveness, efficiency, impact, and sustainability of the project and           generate evidence.
2. Document and analyse the lessons learned and good practises of the project, especially on the        issues of developing and executing a joint project, mainstreaming conflict sensitivity, gender            and social inclusion, among others.
3.Analyze the lessons learned and good practices with regards to the peacebuilding in Nepal and     provide actor-specific, well-targeted recommendations on how the project’s contribution to the         peace process could be strengthened or any unintended negative consequences be mitigated.       Include one or two concrete stories or examples of success and failure.
4. Assess performance of the project based on the results framework including evaluation of the          qualitative and quantitative indicators.
5.Assess issues such as management of risks identified in the project proposal; validity of the                theory of change; catalytic nature in terms of additional financial comments or unleashing peace      relevant processes; risk taking / innovative approaches; selection of project location,                          beneficiaries and project staff particularly in light of the intended objectives.

6. Assess the project’s efficacy on selection of right partnerships and exit strategy, particularly in            light of national ownership and sustainability;

General Requirements:
Required Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Completed advanced university degree in Peace & Conflict Management, Social Sciences, Law, International Relations with experience in working with national and international organizations.
  • At least 8-10 years of relevant professional experience in the areas of land tenure and management, transitional justice, natural resource conflict, peace and conflict management, gender equality and social inclusion is a must. Prior experience of working in Nepal in relation to peace and conflict management is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years experiences of implementing various different types of evaluation methodologies.
  • Understanding of international best practices in the area of gender responsive land policy and management, previous experience in evaluating peacebuilding projects is an added advantage.
  • Fluency in oral and written English and excellent drafting skills is required.
