Job Description

Abt Associates is currently seeking qualified Nepali national professionals for the DFID-funded Monitoring, Evaluation and Operational Research (MEOR) project of DFID’s Nepal Health Sector Programme 3 (NHSP3). The MEOR project will enable DFID Nepal to continuously improve and adapt its programme to ensure that the NHSP3 and NFPP (Nepal Family Planning Project) intended outcomes and impact are achieved. The overarching objective of DFID’s NHSP3 programme is to improve the health of all people with special focus on women, children, the poor and socially excluded in Nepal, including by restoring health services in areas affected by the 2015 earthquake, and improving the quality and governance of health services nationwide.

Monitoring and Evaluation Adviser

Location:  Kathmandu, Nepal 

Contract:  MEOR Services, NHSP3, DFID Nepal

Term: Full time for the duration of the project (Till December 2020)

The Monitoring & Evaluation Advisor will lead the design and finalisation of the NHSP3 monitoring, evaluation and learning plan and the subsequent monitoring of NHSP3 programme results. In addition, they will lead the monitoring of Nepal Family Planning Project (NFPP) results. 

Qualification requirements include the following:

  • Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in health or social sciences;
  • Proven experience in designing, supporting, and analysing health policy and programmes
  • Proven experience in Monitoring and Evaluating and Reporting on health programmes to improve system efficiency and responsiveness;
  • Proven experience with Theory of Change design, Results Frameworks and log frames;
  • Substantial field experience within Nepal, working in the areas of health research and M&E;
  • Experience as part of a senior leadership team with similar roles;
  • Excellent written and spoken English communications skills, with demonstrated analytical skills and publication experience;
  • Experienced and willing to work in diverse cultural setting
