Job Description

Health Research and Social Development Forum (HERD), a national organisation working in the health and social development sector calls for applications from dedicated and dynamic professionals for the position of Senior Technical Officer - Nutrition for a period of at least one year (subject to further extension based on performance) having at least a post graduate degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Global Health or related field with at least 3 years of demonstrable experience in the sector of nutrition, maternal and child health.

We are seeking an experienced senior-level employee who is efficient in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of nutrition related projects/programmes. He/She will be based in central office in Kathmandu and will work closely with the research and programme team for effective design, planning and execution of research and evaluation studies. Overall, he/she should be a thorough professional – with a good blend of technical and managerial skills to contribute as well as supervise final outputs produced by HERD.

Key Responsibilities (KRs)

The job centers on providing technical expertise for effective design and implementation of the nutrition related projects and programmes. Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager and M&E Manager, the Senior Technical Officer - Nutrition will have the following key responsibilities:

• Provide technical leadership/support/facilitation in designing and implementation of nutrition, maternal and child health related projects
• Provide technical input with regard to design, implementation, data analysis, report writing and developing research and policy briefs of research projects.
• Provide management support and oversight on planning and execution of activities at district level, monitoring, and evaluation, including leading the development of project technical reports.
• Maintain regular communication and conduct field visits to support district teams in performing regular tasks by providing technical knowledge and guidance.
• Ensure documentation of the processes and evidence of good practice for both internal and external learning.
• Coordinate with government authorities, line ministries and External Development Partners and develop linkages with relevant national and international organisations to coordinate activities on behalf of organisation.
• Take full responsibility of project risk management by analysing data, anticipating, identifying and mitigating risk factors.
• Support Senior Programme Manager to ensure efficient project management by ensuring value for money.
• Support M&E team in compilation and analysis of M&E data and support in developing M&E reports.
