ABOUT THE ROLE


Stonestep is a growing insurtech company which provides new security to mass- and micro- customers via partners like mobile operators, mobile money providers, retailers, and others. Stonestep’s management team is located across multiple time zones and is launching with diverse partners across the South East Asia region. We are looking for a Project Manager to scale our Nepal operations based out of Kathmandu. 

The role will be the manager of an ongoing project and key contact point for our operation’s local business partners. The role requires project management and management skills for scaling up a new product and introducing new ones. The project is funded by a European government’s overseas aid agency and requires donor management. The right candidate will display the confidence and experience to handle fact-based business discussions with senior executives of leading Nepal firms. This position provides a unique opportunity in an early-stage company to grow with an experienced team which deploys new technologies and which works to do things differently for lasting benefit to customers. 


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversee operations and marketing for launch of a high-volume mobile based product
    • Problem-solve and escalate post-launch operational adjustments
  • Stakeholder management with Client, Insurer, and Service providers
  • Keep frequent (minimum weekly, daily where applicable) contacts with negotiation partners
  • Provide clear fact-based current situation to C-level executives
  • Pro-actively move discussions or escalate
  • Quarterly and year end reporting
  • Budget management
  • Establish lacking connections to admin support
  • Act as main contact in necessary questions
  • Donor and grant management
  • Define process based on guidance from Regional and HQ management
  • Ensure the local team is successfully delivering on their objectives
  • Bank, accounting, and legal interface
  • Possibly act as Local Legal Representative of the company
  • Support the introduction of new products to the market
  • Oversee delivery against objectives of 5+ staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree at an accredited college or university (required) in the field of Business Administration, Insurance, Finance or Project Management (preferred). Additional study (e.g., MBA) in a related field is a big plus
  • 7+ years of total working experience out of which 5+ years preferably management experience in the field of business development or in project management
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and understand staff and stakeholders in a multicultural context
  • Strong attention to detail, with focus on stakeholder management, product management, product development and performance of distribution channels 
  • Emerging market experience is crucial
  • Fluent English, written and spoken, required (Nepali is a strong advantage)
