Intern (Adviser on Livelihoods and employment)

Background
The intern will work under the mentorship/supervision of Adviser on Livelihoods and Employment within the Poverty and Inclusion unit, UNDP Country Office Nepal.


Duties and Responsibilities
The internship will focus on the following area:

  • Review national and international publications, program and practices in the area of livelihoods, employment, economic development and related thematic issues as per the priority of Poverty and Inclusion Unit;
  • Collect and analyze data from various secondary sources on the intervention made by other development partners;
  • Carry out background research in various area related to employment and economic development;
  • Conduct field visits and collect data from the field as needed as assigned by the Supervisor;
  • Carry out other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills and Experience
Applicants to the UNDP internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree (as defined in (a) and (b) above) and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation;
  • Person should be familiar with various research methodology and data analysis;
  • Be able to analyze data and produce tables, graphs and charts on Excel or similar spreadsheets as required;
  • Basic knowledge of a statistical software will be an advantage.
  • Strong command of written and spoken Nepali and English languages.
