LOCATION: Kathmandu (CFO)

GRADE: 5

Contract Length: 31st December 2017

Dimensions: Save the Children, Centre Field Office (CFO) works in 6. CFO works in partnership with 11 Partner Organizations which includes 2 Government Agencies-DDCs, 9 NGOs. There are about 100+ staffs working in CFO with district office located in 6 locations.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Finance Officer will be responsible for preparing payments & adjustments vouchers ensuring correct budget coding and submitting for timely checking & approval, registering & posting entries in Agresso, prepare bank reconciliation, TDS payment and e-TDS update, partner fund balance reconciliation.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Reports to: Finance & Grant Coordinator Staff directly reporting to this post: N/A

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparation, entry and posting of the journal vouchers, including account payable (AP), manual payments (MP), cash receive voucher (CRV) and PCVs
  • E-TDS update and tax payment (central office, field offices, district office follow up)
  • Reconciliation of partner fund balance on monthly basis to ensure that the balance in partner FAS agrees with SCI system balance
  • Process for transfer of funds to the district offices and partner organizations
  • Bank reconciliation on monthly basis
  • Update manual AP, GJV, CRV, PCV, MP log sheet in an Excel
  • Provide on the spot coaching session and orientation to PNGOs and Budget Holders as required
  • Maintain & safely keep back up data of finance and finance related documents.
  • Ensure that the filling system is adequately maintained and updated.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors' Degree in Management/Accountancy or related discipline
  • 3 years' (2 years for GSI group*) experience in development field preferred
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • High level of computer skills
  • Report writing and editing skills, and preferably proposal writing and editing skills
  • Interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong results orientation, with the ability to challenge existing mind-sets
  • Potential ability to present complex information in a succinct and compelling manner
  • Potential to solve complex issues through analysis, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy in
