Job Description

CARE Nepal is an international humanitarian organization working in the country for the past 37 years. It currently works in 44 districts through various programs on issues relating to improving the lives of the poorest and most vulnerable populations through programs that work on the following themes: food security and climate change; emergency preparedness and DRR; migration and urbanization; sexual reproductive and maternal health; gender based violence; women and girls’ leadership. Marginalized Women and Adolescent Girls are our two primary impact groups. Core priorities include investment in the empowerment and leadership of women and girls, good governance and accountability, working in partnership and alliance with like-minded actors, and evidence-based advocacy.

CARE Nepal hereby invites applications from interested candidates for an internship for 6 months in the Finance and Sub Grants Management Unit for its USAID funded project Hariyo Ban Nepal ko Dhan. These positions will be based in Pokhara, Nepalgunj and Bharatpur.

The Hariyo Ban Nepalko Dhan Program (Hariyo Ban Program) aims to reduce the adverse impacts of climate change and threats to biodiversity in Nepal. This program is being implemented in two important landscapes of Nepal, Terai Arc Landscape and Chitwan Annapurna Landscape of Nepal.

Purpose of the Assignment:

The purpose of the assignment is to provide support to the Hariyo Ban Program Finance and Sub Grants Management Unit. The internship shall provide an experience that is mutually beneficial to both the intern and the organization. This partnership shall provide the opportunity to the intern to transfer and apply knowledge and theory gained in university in actual organizational environment. The intern will work under the guidance of the Finance Officer and Sub Grant Management Associate of Hariyo Ban Program based in Pokhara/Nepalgunj/Bharatpur at the CARE Nepal project offices. The intern will conduct first two visits to PNGOs with Sub Grants Management Associate and later carry on independently.

Preferred Qualifications and Competencies:

Minimum Bachelor degree in accounting, financial management or those who are undergoing the professional accounting courses like CA and ACCA is preferred with knowledge of finance and accounting and knowledge on government tax issues. Excellent Skill in computer application especially MS Word and MS Excel. Ability to adapt and function in diverse cultural contexts and take initiative and work independently.
