Consultant for LDCRP and Disaster Preparedness activities in Uttargaya Rural Municipality, Rasuwa
Organization Information
Sustainable Enterprise & Environment Development Society (SEEDS) Rasuwa is a Non-Government, Non-Profit making and Non- Political Organization established in 1 Asoj 2063 BS i.e. October 16, 2006 AD. It is predominantly focusing its activities of Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Development, Livelihood, Women Empowerment, Health & Nutrition, Community Development and Social Empowerment though social mobilization, awareness raising, capacity building and income generation approaches. SEEDS have a group of experienced, skilled and well-trained team which is efficiently and effectively mobilized and governed by its Governing body and Management committee accordance to the given policy, plans and rules.
Project Background:
SEEDS Rasuwa has been implementing a project “UTHAN- Uplifting the Poor and Needy ” with support of Christian Aid Nepal in Uttargaya Rural Municipality of Rasuwa District. This project focused on strengthening Community Resilience Through Diversification of Livelihood and Promoting Disaster Preparedness. Since Rasuwa is very much prone to natural disasters like flood and landslide due to its geographical variation; local authority and DMC of RM and wards need to strengthen capacity on disaster preparedness. Therefore; SEEDS has been working on awareness of disaster risk reduction and Climate Change Adaptation.
Scope of Assignmnet :
Rasuwa was one of hardly hit district by 2015 Earthquake. The infrastructures and livelihood of community were severely affected. After earthquake various part of district was also affected by several landslides. Uttargaya Rural municipality is worst hit by earthquake as 298 households are internally displaced along with human casualties. Beside 2015 earthquake and landslide, fire and decreased productivity due to changed climatic condition are other disasters affecting community of Uttargya RM. Different organization local government worked on earthquake recovery in district but there is very limited disaster preparedness action carried out till the date. Local elected bodies, communities and stakeholders need to improve their capacity with clear understanding and practice of disaster preparedness. Therefore, preparation process of LDCRP itself will be effective to engage community in capacity building process from which community will receive better preparedness understanding. Similarly exercise like simulation of prepared LDCRP will clearly support municipality and ward, DMC on prompt disaster response in future disaster. Consultative workshop will be one of the key process to strengthen capacity of local stakeholders and government on disaster risk reduction and preparedness. This process has better scope overall because this helps in mainstreaming Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Change component into rural municipalities/municipalities development planning process. Along with LDCRP in place, simulation, search and rescue training to local youths and DMC, school based DRR initiatives through Eco- DRR club will be effective in terms of future disaster preparedness and mitigation at community level. This project aims to prepare LDCRP of municipality level covering all wards, capacity building of disaster management training in all wards and prepare a search and rescue team with support of search and rescue equipment.

Payment Procedure :
40% payment will be made after a week of agreement signed and 40% will be paid based on the evaluation of delivery of 90% work. Remaining 20% will be disbursed after submission of financial and technical report. All applicable taxes will be deducted as per Government of Nepal’s rules.
Contract Period: 25 March – August 25 ( 5 Months)
