Job Description

PRIMARY ROLE
The CEO is a critically important role enabling to work most effectively with internal and external stakeholders and fulfil his/her commitments to pharmaceutical networks, Board of Directors and employees. This is a highly strategic and facilitative role that requires a combination of focus and flexibility as well as willingness to play an active role. This role requires a highly resourceful individual with strong emotional intelligence, self-motivation, and strong analytical skills.

Since this is a new venture, the CEO will be responsible for working closely with different stakeholders of pharmaceutical industry, negotiating and acquiring different pharmacy networks and developing a pharmacy chain. The role requires the individual to quickly understand where his/her business is and the issues it faces. CEO will be expected to give opinions on such findings and given the task of designing and rolling out action/project plans.

The role requires to be personally and professionally challenged through direct participation in decision-making processes and proximity to decision-makers. The CEO will be working in revamping the entire pharmacy network through the initial findings with the stakeholders. He/she will be involved in designing, developing and implementing software to keep track of the pharmaceutical networks to ensure efficiency of the business operation.

This role provides freedom to use his/her prior experience in the pharmaceutical industry to grow and expand the business network. This role will require travel approximately 40-50% of the time.

JOB DESCRIPTION

I. Research and Analysis:

  • Review and analyse competitive market, expansion opportunities and industry developments of pharmaceutical industry
  • Undertake research on potential brand opportunities including financial and marketing research
  • Assess risks to the organization and ensure they are monitored and minimized
  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to negotiate and acquire pharmacy networks
  • Develop and implement software to keep track of the pharmaceutical network
  • Provide research findings to the Board of Directors
  • Develop and design action/project plans, as required

II. Marketing and Industry Knowledge Building:

  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Nepali pharmaceutical industry
  • Create a brand to gain reputation in the market
  • Develop business strategy and marketing plans for the organization

III. Communication:

  • Act as the primary spokesperson for the organization
  • Communicating, on behalf of the organization, with shareholders, internal and external stakeholders, related individuals of pharmacy network

IV. Develop Strategic Plan:

  • Create and implement organization’s vision and mission and overall strategic plan
  • Lead the development, communication and implementation of effective growth strategies and processes
  • Oversee the complete operation of an organization in accordance with the direction established in the strategic plans
  • Collaborate with Board of Directors to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of systems, processes designed to accommodate the growth objectives of the organization
  • Solicit advice and guidance when appropriate from Board of Directors
  • Evaluate the success of the organization in reaching its goals

V. Develop Team:

  • Plan, assign and create job role in close coordination with the HR
  • Attract, recruit and retain employees for the organization
  • Motivate and lead high-performance team
  • Provide mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program
  • Appraise performance of the employees
  • Reward and recognize employees, address complaints and resolve problems in close coordination with the HR

VI. Develop Organization Culture:

  • Create an environment that promotes great performance and positive morale
  • Foster a result-oriented culture within the organization to highest ethical standards
  • Drive the organization to achieve and surpass sales, profitability, cash flow and business goals and objectives

VII. Leadership:

  • Serve as strategic leader of the organization
  • Direct the employees to establish long-term goals, strategies, plans and policies
  • Provide leadership and management to ensure that the mission and core values of the organization are put into practice

VIII. Financial Analyzation:

  • Oversee organization’s fiscal activity including budgeting and reporting
  • Assure all legal and regulatory documents are filed and monitor compliance with laws and regulations
  • Identify and address financial problems and opportunities for the organization

IX. Network Building

  • Build alliances and partnerships with other organizations of pharmaceutical industry
  • Represent the organization with clients, investors and business partners
  • Represent in industry-related events or associations to enhance organization's reputation and organization's potential for success  

Job Specification

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Master degree in a relevant discipline or MBA
  • Experience in a senior management position in Nepali pharmaceutical industry for minimum 5-8 years
