Job Description

Role and Responsibilities

Provide technical supervision and support to implement the Medair reconstruction assistance grants project in Bijulikot VDC. This will include coordinating and networking with local NGO partners, community, masons and other stakeholders.

Key Activity Areas

Site Supervision

  • Day to day supervision on field sites, provide guidance and coordination to implementing partner.
  • Assist in Community mobilization. 
  • Ensuring Site safety, safe demolition and earthquake resistant techniques are being followed. 

Technical Oversight

  • Technical support for compliance with project safety and shelter design. 
  • Maintain a thorough record of technical changes, designs, BOQs and revisions introduced by households.
  • Ensure implementation and completion of the project on identified field sites within agreed timeframe

Communication

  • Ensuring good partnership and coordination with stakeholders by maintaining regular, transparent and supportive communication
  • Develop and maintain relationship with government officials, communities, VDC level authorities.

Quality Management

  • Promote and use the Medair operating procedures, ensuring that all standardised formats are used and guidelines are followed.

Job Specification

  • BSc / BEng in a technical field, preferably in civil engineering or in another relevant field such as architecture / engineering / construction management 
  • Good understanding and practical knowledge of Nepal Building code is essential.
  • Experienced professional with 3 year or at least 1 year work experience in rural building construction.
  • Stone, mud mortar building experience.
  • Computer literate with good working knowledge of Microsoft office packages and autocad.
  • Capacity to work under pressure and manage personal stress levels
  • Strong working knowledge of English (spoken and written)
  • Fully committed to the Medair values; to reflect the vision and values of Medair with team members, local staff, and external contacts 
  • Able to live and work in a multicultural team under difficult conditions, committed to team-building.
  • Strong character traits, including emotional stability, adaptability, ability to handle stress, cultural and gender sensitivity, honesty, and physically fit
