Job Description

United Mission to Nepal (UMN) is an international development organisation which aims to enable the poorest people living in poverty to transform their lives, leading towards fullness of life. As they serve the people of Nepal, multicultural teams of Nepali and volunteer expatriate staff work alongside local organisations in ten districts of the country, building partnerships that lead to healthy, dignified and empowered individuals and transformed communities.
Health is one of the key technical areas of UMN’s development programmes and focuses on lasting positive change in the health of the Poorest People Living in Poverty. The Project Manager will report to the Health Team Leader and will be responsible for overall management of a new Maternal and Child Health Project as well as contribute to other UMN’s health projects. He/She will provide efficient and effective project management; ensure technical excellence and give strong technical assistance to the Health Programme Officers in UMN’s Cluster Offices.

(Kathmandu based with frequent visit to Doti and Bajhang)

Qualification and experience:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health or equivalent in relevant field;
  • At least 3-5 years working experience in community health programmes with experience of working in maternal and child health projects;
  • Good knowledge of Nepal’s health situation and understanding of the national health system;
  • Sound knowledge and experience in project management including planning, budgeting, monitoring and reporting;
  • Good computer skills including MS-Office Package. Knowledge of database application would be an advantage;
  • Excellent language and communication skills in both Nepali and English;
  • Willingness to live and work in a challenging environment and to model UMN values.
