Job Description

  1. Assist the project manager in implementing the recovery and reconstruction Program in Sindhupalchowk District
  2. Attend cluster meetings at national and district level, compile the relevant information and disseminate it to NGOs, CBOs, etc.
  3. Supervise and provide technical advice before and during construction projects in Sindhupalchowk district.
  4. Provide quick and efficient low-cost designs for temporary or semi-permanent structures, with control of costs.
  5. Assist with reception visits on the field and give technical retrofitting recommendations
  6. Help with identifying additional and external expertise linked to reconstruction process in order to compile a skills database.
  7. Help with identifying and documenting appropriate and innovative construction technologies for reconstruction in order to build a database
  8. Monitor the Implementing NGOs including ARSOW for 3 VDCs and others if any in future.
  9. Frequently visit and stay at project site in various VDCs of Sindhupalchowk District.

Job Specification

Humanitarian skills

  1. Knowledge of humanitarian mechanisms – roles of Government agencies, National Clusters and International NGOs
  2. Knowledge of humanitarian standards of construction (shelter, latrines, layouts, etc.)
  3. Understanding of local NGOs and international NGOs mechanisms
  4. Adaptation skills, field competencies, mobility and reactivity
  5. Ability to interact comfortably with beneficiaries and communities’ stakeholders

Technical skills

  1. Design, construction and cost estimate skills, especially with appropriate materials and building systems (mud, bamboo, stone, wood, etc.)
  2. Extensive knowledge of ecological, appropriate and vernacular technologies
  3. Good understanding of technical details and retrofitting strategies
  4. Good comfort on construction sites
  5. Autocad, Sketchup or equivalents and good hand sketching
  6. Excellent knowledge of Word and Excel

Personal skills

  1. Leadership qualities
  2. Good multi-tasking with time-management skills. Ability to work under pressure.
  3. Strong team-working skills, ability to work independently, as well as in a group setting
  4. Excellent verbal and communication skills in English and Nepali
